Since the inception of the company in 1983, the name “Maitlands” has become synonymous with quality, reliability and expertise within the residential surveying profession. The founding partners of Maitlands Chartered Surveyors, Garrett O’Hanlon and Graham Stephenson, have over 40 years of surveying expertise between them and during the past 22 years have inspected all manner of residential properties. Garrett and Graham's surveying team is now 20 strong and growing all the time.
Both Garrett and Graham have trodden a similar path with regard to their academic and professional lives.
Both completed degrees in building surveying, at what is now the University of Greenwich, and in 1981 started working together towards their letters to become members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the planning teams of the Property Services Agency, a division of the Department of the Environment. The huge diversity of projects undertaken gave each of them an invaluable base and knowledge in many different areas of construction.
In the mid-1980s the pair branched out and specialised in the undertaking of residential surveys and valuations, which has remained the basis of their working lives and knowledge ever since.
Both are local to the area and have undertaken property inspections of all types, sizes and values, throughout South East London and Kent, where their knowledge and expertise is comprehensive.
In 2004 Garrett and Graham merged their practice with The Acorn Group to form Maitlands Acorn Professional Ltd, allowing the opportunity to develop and expand a highly reputable, professional firm into a new era.
